Rope Climb

Everyone can climb a rope.
Very few can do so efficiently.
The resources on this page will show you how.

Technical Breakdown
of the Rope Climb.

Extra Points of Performance

Below are some extra points of performance to help you improve your rope climbs quicker and get the edge on your competition.

Consider using 3 pulls, instead of 2.

Most of us use 2 pulls to get to the top of the rope. However, when learning to drive up with your legs and move your hands at the same time it can make sense to reduce how high you are setting your legs on the rope and perform 3 pulls instead.

Once you’ve started to get the hang of it, you can then start to lift your legs higher and work on being able to perform your rope climbs with only 2 pulls.

Fast Rope Climbs

When looking to move fast on the rope (e.g. 6-4-2 Rope Climb & Thrusters) keep your hands on the rope.

In the video below, notice how I don’t let go of the rope at the bottom. This allows me to quickly get my feet back on the rope.

This is a skill that you should make sure you practice and have ready in your toolbox.
